The Chicago Bulls are an American professional basketball team based out of Chicago, Illinois, and play in the Central Division of the Eastern Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team was established in 1966. Their home venue is the United Center and all home games are played there. The team is well known for having one of the strongest dynasties in basketball history during the 1990s, where they won six championships in eight years with two three-peats. All six of the championship teams were led by Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and coach Phil Jackson. While several other prominent players were a part of both reigns, Michael Jordan completely stole the spotlight as the premier player, establishing numerous records.

The Bulls won an NBA record 72 games during the 1995–96 NBA season, this is a record as they are the only team to win at least 70 games in one season. During the 1990s, the Bulls helped spread the popularity of the NBA around the world. The last time the Chicago Bulls appeared in a playoff Finals, in 1998, it was the most watched championship series in NBA history.  Obviously, Michael Jordan’s premise as the most successful basketball player in history, continued to elevate the Chicago Bulls.  He had a separate fan base himself and established the sport worldwide, having a following even from other players, who imitated his techniques and unique flair on the court.

A special aspect of the Chicago Bulls was how they were first NBA team to dim the lights during the starting lineup introductions of home games. Eventually, other teams imitated this as well, but the Chicago Bulls set the standard.  During the Bulls’ strong run in the 1990s, the player introductions became world famous. This escalated basketball into a more entertaining and exciting venue as a sports tradition, enticing more fans to watch who normally would not be. The lights are initially dimmed while the visiting team is introducted, accompanied by the song “On the Run” by Pink Floyd. Then all lights in the arena are turned off for the Bulls introduction, and a spotlight highlights each player as he is named and runs onto the court. Since the move to their latest venue at the United Center, laser lights and fireworks have been added, and with new additions to the arena’s White Way video screen, computer graphics on the stadium monitors have been added.  This has continued the flair and appeal that has set apart Chicago Bulls games from any other basketball team in the country.

Since the enduring success in the 1990s, the Chicago Bulls have been rebuilding their team during the 2000s.  However, their fan base is strong as ever and many fans have held season tickets for years.  Attending a Chicago Bulls game is one of the most popular attractions for people who visit Chicago and their games are regularly sold out, especially during the playoff finals.  Tickets are continuously in demand, especially as the Bulls begin re-establishing themselves as one of the strongest teams in basketball.
